GLASGOW, Ky. – A Glasgow man has been arrested following the death of a dog.

According to a uniform citation, the Glasgow Police Department responded to a residence in Glasgow on Tuesday around 10:04 p.m.

Police say they made contact with Paul Bruton, 48, of Glasgow at the scene.

While speaking with Bruton, police say another officer spoke to the caller, who stated he was Bruton’s roommate.

Authorities say the caller stated two days earlier, Bruton had used a knife to cut the side of the caller’s neck. Police say they saw a recent cut to the left side of the individual’s neck.

The caller stated he did not want to press charges but that he was in fear for his life, the citation states.

The roommate further stated on the same evening, Bruton had fatally stabbed the family dog and left it in the backyard wrapped in an old carpet, according to police.

Police say Bruton openly admitted to them that he had killed the dog the other day, claiming it was vicious.

Upon speaking to the caller, police say they were told the animal had never been aggressive toward him or Bruton.

The remains of the dog were recovered as evidence and transported to the Barren River Animal Welfare Association.

Bruton was arrested and is charged with torture of a dog or cat. He has since been released from the Barren County Detention Center.
