Glasgow man charged with theft of farm equipment

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Glasgow man is behind bars after an alleged theft involving farm equipment.

According to a uniform citation, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded Thursday to Harry King Road for a reported theft.

Authorities say upon arrival, they spoke to a male subject that stated they had arrived to a farm and discovered a tractor and side-by-side were missing.

Deputies say a surveillance video showed 52-year-old Alex Chase of Glasgow enter the property and take the tractor around 6 a.m. before leaving. Video showed Chase returned about an hour later and depicted him taking the side-by-side before again leaving the property.

Authorities say they arrived to where they were told Chase was residing and found the stolen tractor in plain view. The citation states the side-by-side was not found in the area.

On Friday, deputies say they made contact with Chase at his residence. During this time, authorities say Chase denied having knowledge or involvement in the theft.

He was arrested and remains at the Barren County Detention Center on two counts of theft by unlawful taking or disposition of farm equipment between $10,000 and $1,000,000.
