BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A man is behind bars after authorities say he fled police in Bowling Green on Tuesday.
According to a uniform citation, around 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Bowling Green Police Department observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Interstate 65.
Police say the vehicle sped past an officer, leading the officer to attempt a traffic stop.
Authorities say the driver of the vehicle began speeding up.
According to police, a Glasgow Police Department vehicle was also pursuing the speeding vehicle. During this time, the citation says the Bowling Green officer reached speeds up to 126 miles per hour while trying to overtake the vehicle.
Police say the officer deemed it unsafe to continue the pursuit and exited I-65.
