Glasgow man charged with assault after shots fired complaint

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Glasgow man is behind bars following a report of shots fired resulted in an assault charge.
According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police was dispatched to assist the Glasgow Police Department with a domestic violence report.
Upon arrival, troopers say they made contact with officers, who stated a female involved in a domestic case had been cleared by EMS on scene.
Troopers say officers further stated the female had a possible broken nose and blood stains on her clothing.
In addition, the citation states officers stated the original call concerned a shots fired complaint at the residence.
Officers stated they had located a gun and used shell casing in the backyard of the residence.
Troopers say according to witness statements and information provided by involved parties, officers stated six children were present in the home during the time of the incident, which allegedly involved an argument between the female and 31-year-old Lydell Cain of Glasgow.
Officers say that the female stated Cain pushed her while she was holding a baby, and she “brushed him back.” The citation states the female stated Cain punched her in the nose while she was still holding the baby in the front yard.
Authorities say the female stated Cain then stated he was leaving and shot a round from a gun in the backyard.
Upon speaking to Cain, troopers say he stated no assault had occurred and that the female had broken her own nose.
Authorities say Cain further stated he “saw something running toward the chicken coop” when asked about firing the gun.
During Cain’s arrest, troopers say a strong smell of alcoholic beverages was coming from him.
Cain remains at the Barren County Detention Center on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment (discharge of firearm), second-degree assault (domestic violence) and endangering the welfare of a minor.
