Glasgow man arrested on DUI, firearm charges

GLASGOW, Ky. – Glasgow Police Department arrested a man on multiple charges Tuesday.

On Tuesday, June 7, the GPD responded to East Main Street in reference to a complaint of a man passed out inside a vehicle with a gun in his lap.

According to police, officers made contact with Dwayne T. Smith, 35, of Glasgow and were able to wake him up and he refused treatment from Barren/Metcalfe EMS. Officers located a Glock hand gun and confirmed that Smith was a convicted felon, stated police.

Smith was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, third offense (aggravating circumstances)(enhancement), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon (enhancement) and possession of an open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle prohibited (enhancement).

Smith was lodged at the Barren County Detention Center.
