GLASGOW, Ky. – A Glasgow man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he drove past a cruiser that was attempting to block traffic.

According to a uniform citation, a Glasgow officer had parked a cruiser and activated its lights to block traffic for a wrecker to load a vehicle on Columbia Avenue on Sunday night.

Police say while blocking traffic, a vehicle drove around several vehicles in traffic, traveled north in the southbound lane and went around the officer’s cruiser.

Authorities say this occurred as the tow truck operator was trying to secure a vehicle.

Police say they caught up with the vehicle and initiated the traffic stop in a parking lot.

The driver, identified as 42-year-old Jacob Frady of Glasgow, began to exit the vehicle before being told to get back inside, according to the citation.

Police say after checking Frady’s information, he was asked to step out of the vehicle.

Authorities say Frady was sweating heavily and appeared “nervous” and was found to be suspended with an ignition interlock restriction for driving, however, one was not present. Frady was placed into handcuffs.

Police say with consent, they searched Frady’s vehicle and located several open containers of alcohol, two syringes, a small bag of suspected methamphetamine and a small bag of suspected methamphetamine residue.

Following Standard Field Sobriety Testing, Frady was arrested and transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for a blood test.

Frady remains at the Barren County Detention Center.

He faces charges of reckless driving, improper display of registration plates, failure of owner to maintain proper insurance, security, first offense, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance, second offense, possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, driving on a DUI suspended license, first offense, operating a motor vehicle/motorcycle function without ignition interlock device and disregard of signals from officers directing traffic.
