Glasgow man allegedly sets fire to garage over money dispute

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Glasgow man is accused of setting a residential garage on fire.

The Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a structure fire at Lyon School Road on Tuesday morning.

Deputies say a complainant said flames were visible from the garage of the home and that Thomas Houchens, 39 of Glasgow, started the fire.

Houchens was located a half mile from the residence.

Deputies say Houchens admitted to starting the fire.in the garage by pouring gasoline onto split wood and lighting it.

According to the citation, Houchens said he started the fire because he wanted half of the money for the split wood inside the garage. The complainant says Houchens did not pay for the wood and would not be given money.

The garage was a total loss from the fire.

The complainant also said Houchens threated to “kill dogs” with a knife that morning.

Houchens is charged with arson, 2nd degree, and criminal mischief, 1st degree. He is lodged at the Barren County Detention Center.
