Glasgow man allegedly breaks into business, attempts to steal ATM

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Glasgow man allegedly attempted to steal an ATM from a store.
Glasgow Police Department Major Terry Flatt says responded to a burglary complaint at the Daily Stop Store located on Columbia Avenue on Thursday.
Flatt says officers arrived at the store and observed that the front door was broken out. Items were thrown throughout the store.
Officers say the suspect attempted to remove an ATM but was unsuccessful. The ATM was heavily damaged.
Flatt says officers utilized surveillance video and FLOCK cameras to determine that the suspect is a male and the vehicle used in the attempted theft.
Officers say the suspect is Derek Shaffer, of Glasgow.
Shaffer was located at a residence on Jefferson Street and arrested.
Shaffer is charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools.
He is lodged at the Barren County Detention Center.
