Glasgow introduces new text notification system to keep residents informed

GLASGOW, Ky. – The City of Glasgow is announcing a new texting system designed to inform residents about city events, important updates and more.

According to a release by Studio 22 Marketing, citizens will be able to receive notifications on their cell phone.

Mayor Henry Royse expressed his enthusiasm for the new initiative, stating, “We are committed to enhancing communication with our residents. This texting system is a simple and effective way for citizens to stay connected to their city, receive timely updates, and engage with community events.”

The release says residents can easily sign up by texting one of the following keywords to 270-651-5131:

  • EVENTS: for city events, festivals, and entertainment
  • GLASGOW: for general city information (HR, Police, Fire, etc.)
  • PARKSANDREC: for Parks & Rec programs and events
  • PLAZA: for Plaza events and shows
  • PUBLICWORK: for street closures and public works updates
  • TRANSIT: for bus schedule changes

“This is an exciting step forward for Glasgow. We want to make it as easy as possible for our community to access important information. By utilizing technology, we can ensure our residents are informed and engaged,” said city administrator April Russell.
