Glasgow holds D-Day ceremony to honor 80th anniversary
GLASGOW, Ky. – 80 years ago, the United States stormed the beaches of Normandy in France, in what is now known as D-Day.
Thursday, the Barren County Veterans Association decided to honor those locals who were part of such a historic day.
One member of the Veterans Association shares how important this year specifically is in terms of honoring those who served during D-Day itself.
“D-Day is important every year, but the 80th year… it’s a little more special than it has been in the past… Of course, most of your World War II veterans are gone now… which makes it even more special… more important to us to keep their memory alive… Let’s get the word out and show that Glasgow & Barren County are proud of our veterans,” Matt Mutter says.
We at News 40 want to send a huge thank you to all veterans in South Central Kentucky who served during D-Day.
