Glasgow grandmother charged with wanton endangerment after toddler found wandering on road
GLASGOW, Ky.- A grandmother from Glasgow was arrested Thursday after police said her 3-year-old grandson was found running on a roadway unattended.
According to an arrest citation, Glasgow police responded to Leslie Ave. in reference to the little boy running around by himself. The citation states several neighbors were trying to chase after the child when police arrived on the scene. Police eventually caught the child.
During their investigation, police said they learned that Marilyn Mitchell, 56, the child’s grandmother, had left the toddler home alone with his 15-year-old sibling, who, according to the citation, is autistic and not capable of taking care of a 3-year-old.
The citation goes on to state that neighbors told officers that it was not the first time the 3-year-old was running around without supervision.
When Mitchell returned home, she was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.
Social services removed the siblings from the residence.
Mitchell was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
