Glasgow couple indicted on multiple child abuse charges

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Glasgow couple is behind bars, accused of abusing multiple children in their care.

A Barren County grand jury indicted Matthew and Robin Brock, 1800 Lick Branch Road, Nov. 20 on six counts of first-degree criminal abuse, according to Barren Circuit Court Clerk records.

They are accused of abusing children in their care, Barren County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Houchens said.

Matthew Brock, 43, was originally charged in October with criminal abuse and strangulation after Barren County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the home with social service workers.

All of the children said Matthew Brock paddled them with a wooden paddle multiple times over three years, according to his October arrest citation.

Brock is accused of twisting one child’s arm so much that the child had to wear a sling for several days, and the child was not taken for medical care, according to the citation.

About two years ago, the citation reads that Brock struck one of the children on the head with a broom causing a cut to the child’s head. A child reported that around the first of August Matthew Brock strangled the child, according to the citation.

Matthew Brock said he paddled a child and he had been in altercations with his wife, according to the citation. He denied causing injuries to a child’s arm and head.

Both are lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.  Barren Circuit Judge John Alexander set their bonds at $250,000 each.

Both were arraigned in Barren Circuit Court Monday.
