Glasgow community honors first responders at 2026 Peace Memorial Ceremony

GLASGOW, KY.- Officers, city leaders, and community members gathered to honor the men and women who serve and protect their communities.

The Glasgow Police Department hosted a peace memorial ceremony recognizing those who have served, as well as those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Organizers say every role in public service, whether as a police officer, firefighter or member of the military, deserves recognition for the risks taken to protect others.

Leaders also reflected on the sacrifices made by first responders and service members who never returned home.

“This is a very honorable profession,” said Glasgow Police Chief Guy Howie. “I don’t know of another profession that carries as much honor, respect and trust. I think that’s why these officers continue to do this work every single day.”

The ceremony served as a reminder of the dedication and sacrifice shown by first responders and service members across the region.
