Glasgow city officials comment on recent meeting about renderings for land
GLASGOW, Ky. – Recently, we told you about a meeting Glasgow city officials put on regarding a piece of land on Cleveland Avenue.
Feedback on this meeting so far is pretty positive. Mayor Henry Royse tells us plans are not set in stone just yet as to what the land will become, but renderings shown included potential housing for the community or retail outlets.
Mayor Royse says officials with the city have no say in deciding what exactly will go there, but once it’s determined, they WILL say, for example, how many housing units will be built if that option is chosen.
“The city has no interest in specifying how many homes or how many retail outlets might wind up. The developers are the ones who will do that… but we have to specify the requirements. We really want the developers to come in and look at what we have and tell us what they can do,” he says.
Royse also says the next step for the city will be reaching out to developers, whether in the area, or further out, to figure out what they can bring to the table for this new project.
