Get your furr-ever friend at Clear the Shelters this weekend

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-It’s every animal lover’s favorite weekend….

“We’re super excited, Clear The Shelters is this weekend,” said Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society Adoption Center Manager Brandon Taylor.

Saturday and Sunday, participating local animal shelters are offering half off adoption fees in an effort to find every pet a loving home.

“It’s one of our largest adoption events of the year,” said Taylor.

On a normal weekend 15-20 animals get adopted from the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society. Nearly 100 get adopted during Clear The Shelters.

“The amount of intakes we get in this facility we really rely on these events. It’s just a great event to find animals their forever home,” said Taylor.

Logan County Animal Shelter is also participating. They recently received over 100 dogs from a puppy mill. Most have been adopted, but some are still waiting there, patiently, for someone to bring them home.

“We have about five left that are gonna be up for adoption, the smaller dogs. We do have three of the German Shepherds and three of the huskies but we have greatly dwindled that 102 number that we started with at the beginning of the month,” said Director Ray Wilson.

Logan County also has some animals that have been there for a very long time, longing for someone to take interest.

“First thing they’re gonna be greeted with when they come in our gates is our long term residents, these dogs have been here for six, seven, eight months some of them a year and they’ve been looking for their homes this whole time and hopefully they leave with a loving family and find a new place to call home,” said Wilson.
