Futsal court in the works for a local Bowling Green park

BOWLING GREEN Ky.-A local park is in the process of building a court for a sport that many people may have never heard of. It’s called futsal.

The court is being built at Lampkin Park on Morgantown Road. It’s a sport similar to soccer, but played on a hard court, and with a smaller ball. The court will be surrounded by a fence.

According to the city of Bowling Green’s parks and recreation director, Brent Belcher, the court is just one part of some major renovations happening at Lampkin Park.

Belcher said the court will not only provide a new resource for the community but will also make Lampkin Park look better as a whole.

“It was taking what was previously a very difficult to use and rarely used court into something that’s going to be the first artificial turf court in our Bowling Green park system,” Belcher said.

Belcher hopes the court will be ready before November.
