Fundraisers for officer Davis
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green police officer Matt Davis is continuing to recover after being shot multiple times last Thursday. Davis is in stable condition but has a long road ahead…but who is officer Davis?
Mike Nade, treasurer of the Local Fraternal Order of Police, says “he deeply cares about the community, when he interacts with people, he has heart-to-heart discussions. He doesn’t just go and answer calls and take reports, he gets to know the people in the community.”
Davis’ impact on the community is known by many. Following this tragedy, the community is now finding ways to support him, his family and BGPD.
Cindi Garden, owner of Groovy Gus Donut Bus, says, “These men and women don’t think twice about getting out there and protecting us and putting their life on the line for us, and so what’s the least that we can do for them?”
Groovy Gus Donut Bus, Cotton BBQ and many other local food trucks and businesses will be at SOKY marketplace on Thursday, July, 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for a fundraiser.
Eric Cotton, owner of Cotton BBQ, says, “This is one way that will allow him to not have to worry about paying some of his bills, taking care of his house. He’s got three kids, and that’s going to help him take care of his three kids as well.”
The Fraternal Order of Police lodge #13 has a Go Fund Me started for officer Davis with a link on their facebook page @FOP #13 for donations.
