Fundraiser event for officer Matt Davis has huge turnout

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – At the SoKy Marketplace, hundreds of people came to support Bowling Green Police Department’s currently recovering officer Matt Davis.

Cotton BBQ and the Bowling Green chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police were big organizers in the event, with Cotton BBQ doing at least 1,200 preorders ahead of time.

Other vendors were there, such as The Groovy Gus Donut Bus and Crave, but the real tear jerkers came from the people just showing up to support.

News 40 spoke to Rachel Jackson, who said if she didn’t get arrested by officer Davis 13 years ago, she’s not sure where she would be. Jackson said since her arrest, she’s been recovering from a drug addiction and is helping to repair other lives who have been uprooted by drugs.

News 40 has been told on several occasions Davis would make sure to talk to people during the arrest process about getting their lives together and turning things around, and Jackson is a firsthand example of that.

The marketplace was packed so much that Steven Harmon, the jailer for Warren County Regional, said that he was sure food would run out before everything shut down around 2 p.m.
