Funding awarded for Glasgow Municipal Airport’s Moore airfield
GLASGOW, Ky. – After receiving a grant from the Airport Improvement Program through the Department of Transportation, the Glasgow Airport will implement a new lighting system.
April Russell, Glasgow’s city administrator, said the city, along with the airport, worked on a grant application for the Airport Improvement Program through the Department of Transportation. The grant award is $750,000, which they will use to put in a new lighting system. The Glasgow Airport’s current lights are almost 25 years old, which would be about 15 past their ideal lifespan, so this is a big deal for the airport.
Sam Chambers spoke to News 40 in an interview as well, who chairs the airport’s board. Chambers said that new LED lights can be seen at 3,000 feet in the air and from 10 to 12 miles away, but he suspects the ones they’ll get will be a bit better.
