Friends of Mammoth Cave National Park receives grant from nonprofit

MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. — Friends of Mammoth Cave National Park has been awarded a grant from the National Parks Foundation, the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service.
According to a release on Friday, the grant will fund field trips to the park as well as in-classroom and ranger-led programs for local students.
Friends of Mammoth Cave says the grant will impact 4,500 students in the park, 8,000 local classrooms and around 5,000 through virtual learning.
The release says Open OutDoors for Kids helps national parks and park partners create new educational experiences or expand existing ones to complement what students are learning in school.
The goal is to introduce students to national parks at a young age, fostering appreciation for the outdoors and inspiring the next generation of park stewards, according to the release.
