Friday update: Coronavirus numbers in south central Kentucky
Friday, another high number of new COVID-19 cases were announced in Kentucky. 930 cases were reported in Governor Andy Beshear’s daily report. That brings the total number of cases here in the commonwealth to 65,066. 12 new deaths were also reported today, bringing the statewide total to 1,149.
The positivity rate decreased slightly in the last 24 hours as well, and stands at 4.48% Friday evening. 11,677 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
According to the Barren River District Health Department, there have been 7,071 total cases in all the surrounding counties combined since the start of the pandemic, 5,857 have recovered.
In total there have been 138 deaths reported from COVID-19 in the area.
