Free flights for kids at Bowling Green Regional Airport

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This Saturday, kids around Bowling Green have the chance to fly for free.

The Experimental Aircraft Association, a national organization of pilots, is hosting their 9/11 Fly-In event with the theme “Never Forget.”

Kids ages 8 to 17 can head to the Bowling Green Airport and enjoy a flight around the city for no cost this Saturday from 8 to 11 in the morning.

The Airport will have fresh-off-the-grill lunch ready as well as a live auction. Flyers will get to hop in Cessna 172s and other models on Saturday.

Maggie and Justin Tidwell own Flywell Aviation, a sponsor of the event along with the EAA.

The couple said they enjoy flying kids at this event every year, but and especially with Covid putting a brake on the fun last year, they are happy to get the kids back in the air again.

“We’re excited to offer these free flights to kids. Maybe they wouldn’t have had the opportunity otherwise, and it’s a great way to raise future aviators, especially from Bowling Green,” Maggie Tidwell said.

The flights are a first-come-first served basis. Visit their Facebook event for more details.
