Franklin’s Nights of Lights brings holiday joy

FRANKLIN, Ky. – Franklin’s Nights of Lights holiday drive-through at Jim Roberts Community Park continues to brighten the holiday season for families across the area.

Organized by Franklin-Simpson Parks and Recreation, the free event runs nightly from 6 to 9 PM through Christmas night, with cash donations and nonperishable food items collected for local food pantries and future displays.

Now in its third year, the event has been able to expand significantly, with more lights, displays, and interactive activities than ever before. Lisa Deavers, Franklin-Simpson Parks and Recreation Director, explained the importance of this event to the community.

“This is 100% sponsored by our small businesses and families in our community, which provides us the opportunity for people to come through,” Deavers said. “It’s a way for us to provide a service to our community members and surrounding community members to bring a little joy to their holiday season.”

One of this year’s new features is the addition of Memory Trees, which allow those in the community to honor loved ones and pets who have passed.

The Parks and Recreation department has even more events planned for the coming months. A First Day Hike is set for January 1, offering an opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the new year. Later in January, the ever-popular Puzzle Palooza competition will return, followed by preparations for spring ball season.
