Franklin police officer struck by car
FRANKLIN, Ky. – Franklin police are searching for a man who they said struck a police officer as the man was trying to flee from them.
At 3:20 a.m. Monday, police were called to Walmart about a suspicious person who may have been under the influence of drugs, according to a release from the department.
When officers made contact with the driver of a silver Toyota Camry and ordered the man out of the vehicle, he drove off causing the car to jump a curb and strike a police officer causing minor injury to the officer.
Police chased the vehicle into Allen County and terminated the pursuit in the interest of public safety.
Police have identified the man as Kevin Ray Allen, 45, who is already considered a fugitive, according to the release. He is a white man, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
A Warren District judge issued a warrant for Allen Feb. 11, 2019 after he failed to show up for court, according to Warren Circuit Court Clerk records.
In that case he is charged with resisting arrest, second-degree fleeing or evading police on foot and third-degree criminal mischief.
The injured officer was treated at The Medical Center at Franklin and released.
