FRANKLIN, Ky. – A Franklin man is facing multiple drug charges after a traffic stop on Wednesday.

According to a uniform citation, agents with the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force observed a silver Chevy Equinox with a cracked windshield.

After the vehicle turned onto Chapman Road in Franklin, authorities say it turned onto Simpson Street without a signal.

The driver was identified as James McCloud, 33, of Franklin.

Once authorities say they switched on their blue lights, McCloud accelerated and turned right onto Peebles Avenue without signaling or stopping at a stop sign.

On Peebles Avenue, authorities say McCloud sped up and threw a black bag from the vehicle.

McCloud stopped the vehicle and put his hands up after being cut off by drug task force agents, the citation states.

McCloud and a passenger exited the vehicle.

Authorities say upon a search of the vehicle, they located suspected LSD and a used syringe.

According to the citation, the passenger told authorities the black bag that was thrown and other items found were not hers, aside from her bag.

Inside the black bag that was thrown, authorities say they found a digital scale, suspected methamphetamine, suspected THC and a water pipe.

McCloud was arrested. He faces charges of failure to or improper signal, criminal littering, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana, second or greater offense, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, tampering with physical evidence, obstructed vision and/or windshield and first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (LSD).
