Franklin man charged with DUI after wreck in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Simpson County man is facing multiple charges after a crash Monday morning in Bowling Green.
According to a uniform citation, around 2:29 a.m., the Bowling Green Police Department says it was dispatched for a vehicle accident on Louisville Road at Interstate Drive.
Police say they made contact with the driver, identified as 32-year-old Juan Garcia of Franklin, Kentucky.
While speaking with the driver with a language line interpreter, police say Garcia stated he had several alcoholic beverages before the accident.
Garcia additionally stated he was driving the vehicle when the collision happened, stating a vehicle had entered his lane and caused him to swerve and crash into a light pole and control box, according to police.
Police say a passenger was extricated from the vehicle and treated by Med Center EMS, who stated the passenger had severe injuries and was flown to TriStar Skyline Medical Center.
Police say they confirmed Garcia was not the registered owner of the vehicle, which is significantly damaged.
Garcia faces charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, first offense (aggravating circumstances), first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree assault, no operator’s – moped license, failure of a non-owner to maintain required insurance, first offense and failure to wear seat belts.
Garcia was transported to the Warren County Detention Center.
