Franklin man charged in vehicle theft from Muse apartments

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Franklin man is facing charges related to a recent vehicle theft from a Bowling Green apartment complex.
According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded just after midnight Sunday to the 1500 block of Morgantown Road regarding an attempt to locate a stolen vehicle.
Police say a company vehicle had been stolen from the Muse apartments within the past three hours.
Upon arrival, police say they observed a vehicle matching the description traveling on Morgantown Road.
While attempting to conduct a traffic stop, police say the driver, identified as 52-year-old Carl Gray of Franklin, fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.
During the pursuit, officer say Gray reached a high speed until he parked off of the 2700 block of Torridge Avenue.
Police say Gray then left the vehicle and ran toward Audley Avenue. Officers say they located three passengers in the vehicle, who stated Gray had picked them up Saturday night.
Shortly before 1 a.m., police say they found Gray hiding behind some bushes off of Audley Avenue.
Gray was taken into custody without further incident. During this time, police say Gray stated they should “just take him to jail because he was guilty.”
Gray was transported to the Warren County Regional Jail, where authorities say he stated that the vehicle had been unlocked with the keys left inside.
Gray faces charges of receiving stolen property, $10,000 or more, second-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others between $1,000 and $10,000, reckless driving and no operators moped license. Further charges are pending.
