Franklin city employee charged with child sex crimes

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A Franklin city employee has been arrested on a Simpson County grand jury indictment charging him with sex crimes against a minor.

Joey Lenn Kendall, 50, was arrested Thursday and is charged with two counts of first degree sexual abuse and two counts of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor-illegal sex act with a child less than 16 years old, according to Simpson Circuit Court and Simpson County Detention Center records.

The indictment was issued Wednesday, court records show.

Franklin Police Department investigated the case, according to the indictment.

Kendall was being held in the Simpson County Detention Center Thursday. Simpson Circuit Judge Janet Crocker set his bond at $25,000, court records show.

An arraignment in the case is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 28 in Simpson Circuit Court.
