Fourth District Fire Department in Butler County urges caution with burning

BUTLER COUNTY, Ky. – Eight brush fires have been reported in Butler County in March alone, so the Fourth District Fire Department is urging caution when burning limbs or anything that can spread fire easily.

The department has responded to multiple controlled burns since the beginning of the month that have gotten out of control.

Chief Stephen Sublett says one of these fires affected nearly 20 acres.

That’s why he urges the public to not burn anything within 150 feet of woodland or brushland between the hours of 6 A.M. and 6 P.M. until April 30.

“It’s just too dry on the top and the ground is still a little wet but everything on top is still dry. It’s going to burn pretty quick. The littlest spark… can do a lot of damage,” Chief Sublett says.
