Four Sabers of Bowling Green brings the ways of the Jedi to the community
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Even though we live in Bowling Green, what if I told you there was something in the heart of the city that took place long ago in a galaxy far, far, away.
The Four Sabers of Bowling Green is a club chartered under The Saber Legion, which has over 100 clubs worldwide, including 43 in the United States.
The group consists of 12 members, all with different backgrounds and shared interests.
“We got in the TSL, basically because we’re just a bunch of old martial artists that wanted to get back into it,” said Timothy Seifrig, co-founder of Four Sabers of Bowling Green. “And we’re all ‘Star Wars’ geeks, so it was a perfect blend of both worlds for us.”
Since being founded in 2024, the group has grown with new members joining those who would like to learn more sword or LED style fighting.
Though some members have prior experience, none is required.
All are welcome, and whether you want to feel like a Jedi Knight or just a regular Knight, they will help you on your way.
“We’re family. We’re going to help you. So seeing grow is actually pretty awesome because that means to me that we’re actually, you know, doing a positive thing and a positive impact for everyone,” said Mackenzie Wickham, a member and duelist with Four Sabers.
The Four Sabers of Bowling Green is open to anyone, and they will be welcomed with open arms.
Member dues are $20 monthly, but the group says it will work with those who may not have it.
The group says it just wants the community to have an outlet to enjoy time among each other and geek out over “Star Wars.”
“Right now, the economy the way it is expenses the way it is, gas prices and everything. Especially in a college town, a lot of people who come here are full time students that are working just to basically get groceries and stuff like that, we want to give them an outlet to come and hang out and do something to just kind of de-stress,” Seifrig said.
So if you would like to learn the ways of the Jedi, sword combat or just play Sabacc like you’re on the Millennium Falcon with Han, Chewie and Lando, Four Sabers of Bowling Green is here for you.
