Former Somerset PD officer indicted following investigation

SOMERSET, Ky. – A former member of the Somerset Police Department has been indicted on multiple charges.
Kentucky State Police say the Pulaski Grand Jury indicted Michael I. Correll, 44, of Somerset on Wednesday, March 8 following an investigation.
KSP says Correll is a retired captain of the Somerset Police Department.
KSP says the investigation began Jan. 8, when Somerset police chief William Hunt contacted KSP Post 11 after police say he learned of suspicious activity involving Correll. Hunt then requested KSP to start an investigation into the incident.
Correll was arrested by KSP and taken to the Pulaski County Detention Center without incident on Wednesday, police say.
Correll has been indicted on charges of first-degree burglary, 10 counts of third-degree burglary, four counts of tampering with physical evidence, abuse of public trust under $10,000, two counts of theft by unlawful taking or disposition of a controlled substance under $10,000, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (2 or more grams of methamphetamine), receiving stolen property (firearm) and first-degree official misconduct and first-degree unlawful access to a computer.
The investigation remains ongoing.
