Former Simpson County Doctor to spend next 50 months in prison

A former Simpson County physician will spend the next 50 months behind bars with no probation. 

A Federal Judge sentenced Roy Reynolds, 69. 

From 2010-2012, Reynolds prescribed tens of thousands of pills, including oxycodone, hydrocodone and Xanax to patients. 

One former patient had five drug overdoses while under the care of Reynolds, yet he continued to prescribe the patient pills after each overdose.

Reynolds was charged with 15 counts of illegal distribution of controlled substances.

During the trial, prosecutors called Reynolds a drug dealer with a medical license.
