Former Plum Springs mayor pleads guilty to wire fraud charges

PLUM SPRINGS, Ky. – Former Plum Springs mayor 45-year-old Shedrick “Shed” Johnson plead guilty Thursday to charges related to wire fraud, officials say.
According to information filed by the United States Attorney on Jan. 2., Johnson was charged with “devising a wire fraud scheme” that lasted for nearly two years where he surpassed “his authorized access by withdrawing funds belonging to Plum Springs” in Warren County.
This lasted from March 2020 to November 2022, the information states.
The information further states Johnson used these funds for his personal gain and completed “unauthorized transactions with the Plum Springs debit card” in an amount of roughly $38,168.96.
Johnson appeared in court on Thursday, when he entered a guilty plea where the parties agree to recommend five years of probation, according to a release by the United States Attorney’s Office, Western District of Kentucky.
Johnson faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.
Sentencing is set for April 25 at 10:30 a.m.
There is no parole in the federal system.
