Former Hilltopper basketball player killed near Atlanta

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Police say a former Western Kentucky University basketball player was gunned down near Atlanta early Thursday morning.

According to a release from the Chamblee (Georgia) Police Department, Cliff Dixon was shot in the parking lot of the Little Saigon strip mall.

Dixon was out celebrating his 32nd birthday.

Dixon died at the hospital.

As of 10:15 a.m. Thursday, no arrests had been made in Dixon’s death.

Dixon, a Maryland native, played on the Western basketball team, but was dismissed from the team in 2011 for what the program called, “a violation of team rules.”
