Former Bowling Green shelter dog to referee Puppy Bowl Sunday

BOWLING GREEN Ky.- With the Super Bowl right around the corner, shelters like the Bowling Green Humane Society also have a reason to celebrate. The Puppy Bowl is an Animal Planet show that airs right before the Super Bowl, and gives some furry friends a chance to play together.

Griffey, who will be a referee the Puppy Bowl, originally called the Bowling Green Humane Society, home.

Shelter director Lorri Hare, said she’s thankful for the Puppy Bowl, as it brings awareness to adoption.

“I think the public awareness really everywhere is becoming so much better than it used to be. If you can show something like the Puppy Bowl on nation-wide television, and just to remind everybody that there are great animals in shelters just waiting for homes, and anytime you can get awareness, that’s just an amazing thing,” Hare said.

Hare said the Puppy Bowl being on such a large scale ultimately helps pets all over the nation find loving homes.

“There’s no better feeling than seeing animals get homes. Anytime a network can bring attention to homeless animals is such a great thing. We’re so blessed to have people like you all helping us find animals homes. When it’s on this really large scale, hopefully that’ll help pets all over the united states” Hare said.
