Former basketball coach sentenced to over 160 years in child sexual abuse cases

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (K105) – A former teacher’s aide and basketball coach faces more than 160 years in prison in a child sexual abuse investigation.
According to a report by WNKY News 40 media partner K105, 54-year-old Christopher Morris of Louisville was found guilty on 10 counts of first-degree sexual abuse, 14 counts of first-degree sodomy, unlawful transaction with a minor and unlawful possession of a weapon on school property.
K105 reports the victims were under the age of 16.
The jury has recommended Morris serve 165 years in prison, according to K105.
“This is one of the most egregious cases of abuse we’ve seen,” Commonwealth’s attorney Gerina D. Whethers stated following Morris’ trial.
According to K105, Morris provided classroom assistance at Conway Middle School in Louisville, where he also coached basketball and volleyball. He was also an Amateur Athletic Union basketball coach, K105 says.
Formal sentencing is scheduled for March 9.
