Former Barren County teacher indicted on sex crime charges

GLASGOW, Ky.- A former teacher at Barren County Middle School was indicted Wednesday on sex crime charges involving a minor.

A grand jury indicted William Gardner, 27, on three counts of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor under 16 years old and one count of unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities.

Gardner was arrested on October 26. According to his arrest citation, during an interview with the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Gardner admitted to engaging in sex acts with a 13-year-old student. He also told deputies he blocked the teenager on the social media app, Snapchat, because he thought someone might find out.

Gardner remains in the Barren County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.
