Food Distribution Day helps 150 WCPS families
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- On Wednesday, Warren County Public Schools held a food distribution day to help any families within their district that are in need.
From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., anyone who has a child in the school district was able to register and come to the old Cumberland Trace Elementary School. The district had families come in 15 minute increments to assure Covid guidelines were followed.
Once there, families were able to shop and pick out exactly what they were in need of, such as paper towels, toilet paper, food, backpacks, clothing and more.
Todd Hazel, Director of Student Services said he feels like they are family and wants to help them in any way they can, starting with this personal experience.
“I mean they’re literally shopping. So to be able to go through and find sheets, or to find blankets that they want and it’s not just given to them out of a tote has been amazing. Just to be able to see that, it’s worth it all,” said Hazel.
Hazel said they were expecting to help about 150 families by the end of the day. He also said they are looking to another distribution day for the entire community within the next couple of weeks.
