Following the continued Federal response after Hurricane Milton

WASHINGTON, DC.- As Floridians grapple with the clean-up and rebuilding from Milton, we’re seeing aid coming from across the country. Community members, linemen, and federal workers are stepping up, with thousands flocking to the Sunshine State.

As the devastation left by Hurricane Milton sinks in, and emergency water rescues wind down the long road to recovery is ramping up.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg stopped by FEMA Thursday, saying that his team is assessing damage to roads, bridges, airports, and the port of Tampa Bay. And that’s just the beginning, thousands of federal workers are joining state and local officials to work alongside Floridians.

Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas with the Department of Homeland Security says, “Every available resource is being deployed as fast as possible to impact communities. And we will not leave until the work is done.”

President Biden responded to mounting concerns about FEMA staffing levels, insisting the Federal Emergency Management Agency has enough resources and funding for now. He says he’s pleading with Congress to act urgently to set aside more money for small business disaster loans.
