Flu cases in region decreasing for first time in weeks

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-For the first time in several weeks, flu cases in Bowling Green and surrounding counties are decreasing.

Med Center Health says that over the past month, there were new flu cases reported daily, and continued to increase with each report. The Kentucky Department of Public Health had reported flu activity was widespread across the state.

This decrease comes right before the holidays. Doctors warn that flu cases typically rise this time of year with families and friends gathering.

“We want to be as proactive as possible, flu vaccination is always a good idea to receive that. If you’re someone who is exposing symptoms, think of others and stay home if you’re symptomatic. Or if you know you’ve been exposed to someone,” said Lead Infection Preventionist Amber Herman.

Med Center Health currently has 12 patients in their hospitals around the region with the flu.
