BONNIEVILLE, Ky. – A Florida man has been arrested after authorities say he reached speeds over 100 miles per hour while driving under the influence.

According to a uniform citation, a trooper with the Kentucky State Police was traveling northbound on Interstate 65 on Wednesday just before 4 a.m. when the trooper observed a vehicle traveling over 100 miles per hour.

The citation states the trooper conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at the 71 mile marker northbound.

Authorities say the driver, identified as 37-year-old Sean McFarlane of Jacksonville, Florida, stated he was heading to Wisconsin from Jacksonville.

The odor of alcoholic beverages was coming from McFarlane, according to the citation.

Standard Field Sobriety Testing was conducted.

McFarlane was arrested and later admitted to drinking, according to authorities.

During a vehicle search, authorities say they located an empty large can of Mike’s Harder Lemonade, along with one half empty and still cold.

The citation states McFarlane’s preliminary breath test measured at .259. McFarlane was transported to the Hart County Jail, where authorities say another breath test measured at .326.

McFarlane was transported to The Medical Center at Caverna for medical clearance before being incarcerated.

He faces charges of speeding 26 miles per hour or greater over the speed limit, reckless driving, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense, and second-degree wanton endangerment. McFarlane has since been released.
