Flooding in Hart County leaves two roads closed

HART COUNTY, Ky. – Several roads in Hart County remain closed following this weekend’s flooding.

Hart County Emergency Management says Kentucky 728 at Cave Hill Road and Smiths Cemetery Road remain closed after heavy rain left both roadways underwater.

Officials are urging drivers to obey all road closure signs and never attempt to drive around barricades.

While conditions are expected to improve as rain moves out, emergency management says residents should continue to use caution and watch for any additional road closures.

Hart County Emergency Management Director Tony Keithley provided the following statement: “Based on the nature of the event, many roadway flooding issues should begin improving within hours to a day after rainfall ends, although some low-lying areas could remain affected longer. Residents should continue following Hart County Emergency Management becuase conditions can change quickly.”
