Flags ordered to half-staff Thursday to honor KY soldier killed in Korean War

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Flags will be flown half-staff Thursday to honor a Kentucky Soldier killed in the Korean War.

Governor Andy Beshear is ordering all flags at state buildings to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday to honor U.S. Army Pfc.Rodger E. Fields, of Busy, who died in combat during the Korean War. Fields’ remains were identified in May 2025.

Fields was assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was killed in action on December 1, 1950, during the Battle of Jangjin (Chosin) Reservoir in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea).

Fields will be interred at Kentucky Veterans Cemetary South East on Thursday, according to a release.

Gov. Beshear encourages all Kentuckians to lower flags to half-staff.
