First responders locate missing girl who walked away from Logan County home

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – A Logan County juvenile is safe after first responders launch search.

According to a release, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office was called to Lewisburg Road to a report of a missing 12-year-old female juvenile with delayed developmental issues Friday morning.

The family told deputies that the juvenile went to bed around 9 or 10 pm on Thursday. The juvenile woke up Friday at around 5 am and left the home with a backpack and light clothing.

Deputies began searching for the juvenile and contacted Logan County Search and Rescue, according to the release.

LCSR launched a drone with a thermal camera to assist the search.

Law enforcement set up a grid in the 4000 block of Lewisburg Road.

Sheriff Stephen Stratton says a motorist told LCSR that they saw a juvenile matching the description on Ray Walker Road near the train tracks.

Deputies responded to the scene and located the juvenile.

The juvenile received medical treatment and was later released.
