First long-term care facility patients receive COVID-19 vaccine
SCOTTSVILLE, Ky.- In Scottsville earlier this morning, the first vaccines to long-term care facilities were given out to 10 residents.
Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care was the first facility in the local area to get the vaccine for their patients- they are a part of Med Center Health, which was one of the 11 hospitals chosen by Governor Beshear to get the first round of the Pfizer vaccine. Fifteen staff members were also given the vaccine.
They did 25 vaccines in order to spread out the number of people getting them every day and so they meet the time constraints of the vaccine. More people are scheduled to receive it at the facility throughout this week.
“We’re very excited obviously. You can feel it in the atmosphere. I mean the staff, our residents, everyone’s excited about the fact that there might be something on the horizon that might eradicate this virus. So we’re very excited to be a part of that,” said the facility’s vice president Eric Hagan.
Med Center Health allocated 200 doses to this facility.
