First day for Glasgow’s new police chief

GLASGOW, Ky.- Tuesday was day one for Glasgow’s new police chief, and she’s taking her time to fill in the big boots.

Waking up this morning, Jennifer Arbogast assumed her new role as Glasgow’s Police Chief.

She’s been with department since 2002, starting as a patrol officer and working her way up to captain. Glasgow Mayor Harold Armstrong says it was her extensive experience that stood out.

Arbogast is Glasgow’s first female police chief, but she says that fact has little to do with how she’ll do her job.

According to Armstrong, seven candidates applied for the police chief position. Arbogast replaces Chief Guy Howie, who recently retired from the Glasgow Police Department.

She is the second woman recently selected to lead a South Central Kentucky law enforcement agency.

Last month, a former Hart County deputy sheriff, Heather Childress, was named interim chief at the Horse Cave Police Department.
