Firefighters respond to Glasgow house fire, 1 pet killed

GLASGOW, Ky. – The Glasgow Fire Department responded to a house fire Saturday evening.
According to a release, GFD fire units were dispatched to 136 Davis St. to a report of a structure fire at approximately 8:41 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters located flames and smoke in the side window on the black corner of the home.
Glasgow fire chief Lucas Tinsley says the fire was quickly contained and extinguished.
GFD believes the fire started around a dresser in a bedroom, according to a release.
The fire caused moderate to heavy fire and water damage in the bedroom and heavy smoke damage throughout the rest of the home.
Tinsley says the cause of the fire is unknown, and the investigation continues.
No firefighters or occupants of the home were injured. One cat died in the fire, according to fire officials.
Tinsley says a resident was able to rescue the rest of the animals inside the home.
According to Terry Flatt, public information officer for the Glasgow Police Department the fire impacted a city employee with three children.
Flatt says the family can benefit from donations that include clothing for a young girl in size 2t, clothing for a teen girl in size small for tops and size three to five for pants and clothing for an 11-year-old boy in size 10 to 12 and shoes in size six and a half.
Any items can be dropped off at the Glasgow Police Department.
