Firefighters battle downtown blaze

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green firefighters were called at 6:21 p.m. to a house fire at the corner of Park Street and 12th Avenue.

when firefighters arrived they saw heavy smoke and flames on the first floor of the structure, according to a release from BGFD.

It took three hours to extinguish the blaze at 703 East 12th Ave. Firefighters remained on the scene at 9:30 p.m. Friday to monitor for any hot spots.

The home had five occupants. No injuries had been reported as of 9:55 p.m.

In total there were eight apparatus and around 30 personal on scene. The fire was under control as of 10:34 p.m., and crews were expected to remain on scene to monitor stability of structure and assist fire investigators.

The origin and cause of fire is currently under investigation.
