Fire breaks out in kitchen, destroys Adair County home

COLUMBIA – The Columbia Adair County Fire Department responded to an active fire call on Thursday evening.

Officials say a kitchen fire was active at a residence located at 329 Maupin Road.

Units arrived at the scene and discovered a one-story home with heavy fire showing.

Firefighters attacked the blaze and brought it under control in 3.5 hours.

No injuries were reported.

Officials say the home is a total loss.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.
