FEMA deadline approaching; what you should know
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Time is running out for anyone who is still dealing with damage from the December tornadoes and needs to apply for federal assistance.
The deadline to apply for assistance with FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration is Monday, March 14.
Whether you are a homeowner, business owner, renter or have a working farm and do not use the land for income that was damaged during the tornadoes, you can apply for federal assistance with FEMA. If you farm and do use the land for income, you can apply to the SBA.
If you’ve already applied for assistance, make sure you’re keeping all of your information current.
“Once you register with FEMA, try to keep current with your location and how to contact you,” said Troy York, a representative of FEMA. “You may have gone someplace and then changed your residence. You have to let FEMA know about that if they are trying to get in touch with you. This may stall your application.”
If your application has been denied, there is still time to correct any information and resubmit. FEMA’s Disaster Relief Center (DRC) is open until 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 14.
The DRC is located inside the old Sears building in Greenwood Mall in Bowling Green.
